 Spin Fishing.

White or pink power eggs tipped with a wax worm have been the ticket.   Olive jigs have also been working very very well.  You might also try a silver are gold spoon in the morning.

It has been too long! Huge Winter Cabin Discount 50% All Cabins!

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Well,

Haven’t been the good blogger have I?  The water is high, and its getting cold out.  Therefore, we are having a great winter special!  50% off any cabin!  (Restrictions are at the bottom of this post.)

Winter is a great time to come to Lobo.  There might not be much fishing going on with the high water, but there is now better way to cure the holiday stress than a nice fire in the fireplace in a cabin overlooking the river.

 Fishing Update:

The fall fishing was awesome, but we now have some very high water.  The corp is running two full units, plus 4 of the flood gates are open.  The good thing about the flood gates being open is, we will be able to get back to fishing sooner.  When they close them its going to be great!  Check out some of my fall pics and pics of the flood gates open!

By the way, Whitney and I are having a baby!!!

discount restrictions:  2 night minimum stay. Offer is valid until Feb 1 2010.  Holiday are excluded.

See you on the River,

Chris

Winter at Lobo

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Winter is here!  Its cold outside, but the Fishing is great.  Winter on the Little Red is my favorite time to fish.  The fish love the cold, and you don’t have to worry about the crowds.  You can fish many a day this time of year and not see another person on the river.  The brown trout have finished their spawn.  This means they are moving back to the deeper hole on the river.  Brown also feed heavily post spawn.

If you love to fish, and you have a heavy coat, come see us on the Little Red.

See ya on the river,

Chris

Fishing Report 7-15-08

Low Water????   I just got down to the dock this morning and noticed that the corp only has one unit of water flowing.  This is great news!  I’m not sure what there pattern is going to be, but I will post as soon as I find out.   Get ready for some great fishing.  All this high water has made the fish very fat and very aggressive!

It is finally time to dust off the fly rods. One unit of water is very fishable, but it is still a little different than normal low water fishing.  Drifting from a boat try using a 10 foot leader with larger nymph (size 14).  Nymphs to try include:  sow bugs, copper johns, prince nymphs, and san juan worms.  Make sure you weight your fly with a bb size split shot.

Bait fishing has been awesome, and can only get better with the lower water.  If the water is way up try a night crawler.  Powerbait and waxworms have been doing great.  White power eggs have been the best, but also bring some yellow eggs.  It water has been stained so the brighter color has sometimes been working better.

 See you on the river,

Chris

Low Water!!

We have had low water every morning this week.  The Corp is turning on two units of water at around ten in the morning, so we have low water until around 2 in the afternoon.

Fishing has been awesome!!!  San Jaun worms and sowbugs have been working great.  Streamers such as wolly buggers have also been catching a ton of fish.

Spin fishing with spoons and roster tails have also been catching a ton of fish.  Pink and yellow power bait have also been doing good when tipped with a wax worm.

I’m not sure how long the water will be down, so now is the time to get on the river.

See you out there,

Chris

Fishing Report 3-20-08

No Water!!!  Well, almost…

The corp turned the water off for one day to keep us from flooding away.  The fishing was great!  We boated over 30 fish on a half day trip.  We caught fish on tan sow bugs (14), Copper Johns (14), but the money fly was red San Juan worms.

The water came back up Tuesday evening, and with all the rain it will be awhile until we see bottom again.

However, the fish are hungry.  Bait fishing has been doing very well.  The bait guides have been bringing in boat loads.  The key is using more weight than normal (1/2 oz).  Wax worms and power bait or Night Crawlers have been doing great.  Also you might try small bait shrimp.  They have been catching some nice fish.

See you on the river,

Chris
