Well,

Haven’t been the good blogger have I? The water is high, and its getting cold out. Therefore, we are having a great winter special! 50% off any cabin! (Restrictions are at the bottom of this post.)

Winter is a great time to come to Lobo. There might not be much fishing going on with the high water, but there is now better way to cure the holiday stress than a nice fire in the fireplace in a cabin overlooking the river.

Fishing Update:

The fall fishing was awesome, but we now have some very high water. The corp is running two full units, plus 4 of the flood gates are open. The good thing about the flood gates being open is, we will be able to get back to fishing sooner. When they close them its going to be great! Check out some of my fall pics and pics of the flood gates open!

Sorry its been forever since the last update. We have been hard at it. Fishing has been very good. I been seeing a lot of big fish caught off the dock. A lady caught a 19 inch brown today. Brown trout fishing has been best in the early mornings, or on cloudy days. They have been releasing water every day, but we have been getting a good low water window. The water has been getting to Lobo anywhere from noon to 5pm. I even got to wade fish Mossy Shoal a couple of days ago. For the most current water release info call the dam at: 501.362.5150. It takes about 6 to 8 hours from when they turn the water on for it to get to Lobo. You can also give a call at the dock 501.362.5802 for current water conditions.

Fly Fishing:

Pink San Jaun worms have been the ticket when the water is higher. On lower water uv sowbugs in all colors have great. I have also had a lot of luck using a soft hackle (red ass) dropper behind the sowbug. Small olive jigs (size 1/124) have also been producing a ton of fish.

Spin Fishing:

Silver and gold spoons have been great on low water. Yellow or white power bait with wax worms have been the way to go if your using bait. Craw fish tails have also been catching some big fish, and if your fishing after a rain night crawlers are a must.

Remember that it is now illegal to use treble hooks when bait fishing, and that all fish between 18 and 24 inches must be released.

We have some new cabins opened, and we just got our new fence and signs up. I’ll post a bunch of pics soon.

Lobo is also now on Facebook, come check us out!

Winter is here! Its cold outside, but the Fishing is great. Winter on the Little Red is my favorite time to fish. The fish love the cold, and you don’t have to worry about the crowds. You can fish many a day this time of year and not see another person on the river. The brown trout have finished their spawn. This means they are moving back to the deeper hole on the river. Brown also feed heavily post spawn.

Fall Is upon us! I love this time of year! The leaves are starting to turn and its just beautiful out. The fishing is about to be great. Its been pretty good out on the river lately, but it has been a little tuff because of the high water. However, The corp has reduced the amount of water they are releasing. From now until the lake is at normal pool, they are going to run only one unit. This will make for some AWESOME fishing. The browns are starting to move, so we are starting to see a bunch of them being caught.

Fly Fishing

The water is still too high to wade, but drifting from a boat is great. Try san jaun worms with a longer leader. Be sure to use plenty of weight.

Spin fishing.

Bouncing wax worms and power eggs have has been great. Use 3/16 oz weight while drifting. If you are on the bank or you are anchored on the side use a 1/2 oz.

See you on the river,
