Fish Report 12-27-07
Friday, December 28th, 2007Well, get out your high water gear! Grears Ferry is currently running teo full units. Form what I have heard they will be releaseing a ton of water for the next week. However, this doen’t mean that fishing is hopeless. The water is very clear, and the fish are still out there.
Fly fishing:
Now is the perfect time for streamer fishing. I would use a 6 or 7 wht rod with a sinking tip line, and a 2 to 3 foot 8lb leader. Wolly buggers, closers, and other streamers will do. The bigger the better. Fish from a boat and plug the banks. Watch out, you never know when a big brown will slam one of those big streamers.
Also try big jigs with about a 10-15 foot leader. be careful, they don’t feel very good when they slap you in the back of the head. (I learned that the hard way!)
Lures/Bait.
Bait fishing will be kinda tuff in all this water. Our bait guides are great at it though. The best thing to do is try and find a over hanging tree to tie to. Double up on your weight and use a night crawler of yellow powerbait and wax worms.
High water is a great time to fish big lures. Use a 6 inch Rattlin Rouge with 10lb line. Plug the banks just like you would if you were bass fishing. Most of your bigger browns are caught this way.
Rattlin Rouge colors:
Fire Tiger, Rainbow & and Brown Trout, Clown, and Tequlia sunrise.
