Fishing Report 8-22-08

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

I now its been awhile, but I have been catching way to many fish to be setting behind a computer.  The fishing doesn’t get much better than it has been.  It is however slow this weekend because all the rain has made the river very muddy.  It should be cleared by by the first of the week, and fishing should return to great.  There is very little water flow so you have to be watch out for rocks!

 Spin Fishing.

Gold and Silver Spoons have been great.  The best lure fishing has been at the tops and the bottoms of the shoals.  Bait fishing has been good as well.  Try fishing a wax worm power egg combo in the deeper holes.  Fish as close to the moss beds as possible.  White and orange power eggs have been the best.  instead of chumming with corn try using English peas.  Peas work just as well if not better, and the fish can digest them.  If a fish eats a bunch of corn, he is most likely to going to live very long.  Just like humans, fish can’t digest corn.

Fly Fishing:

Nymphing has been awesome!!!!  We have been catching a ton of fish nymphing.  I have mainly been using uv sow bugs such as the xtra crispy and the purple haze size 14.  If your wading or drifting through faster water tie a size 16 red ass dropper of of the sowbug.

 See you on the river,

Chris
