Rain rain go away!!

Gus has finally blown over, but he left plenty of water behind!  As of yesterday the lake was up 4.5 feet and raising, and the river was muddy as could be.  However, the corp is currently flushing the river and it should be clear for this weekend.  The corp should be able to run a little more water than they have been, which is a great thing.  The fish love it when there is a little bit of flow out there.

Fishing the last couple of weeks has been great!  I haven’t seen a great deal of big fish caught, but the numbers have been awesome.

Spin fishing:

Lures and jigs have been the best in the mornings when the water as been up a little.  Olive and brown jigs have been great.  Sliver and red/gold spoon have been the lure of the week.  As the sun gets up and the water drops Power Bait and wax worms casted into the deeper hole have been the ticket.  White or Yellow eggs have still been the best.  If the water doesn’t clear up, you might try a brighter color like the bright orange.

 Fly Fishing:

Nymph fishing has been the way to go lately.  Any of the UV Sowbugs have been working well.  I seem to doing better on the darker sow bugs (uv peacock or uv olive brown) in the morning, and better on the lighter ones (uv tan) in the afternoon.  If you are wade fishing try dropping a small san jaun of a zebra midge behind a sow bug.

See you on the river
